To get you thinking about birds like scientists think about birds, the first thing we're going to do is learn some scientific vocabulary, words to talk about birds scientifically. The vocabulary comparison will give you a chance to see how scientists organize words using glossaries; glossaries are important in science because they help clarify how we talk and write about what we observe.

The Birds in Flight reading exercise provides an overview of the process that scientists use to understand the history of our knowledge about birds.

And for a little science fun try this:

Choose a project about birds to do for this unit. You may use any resources you like. A simple Google search on "science fair projects about birds" will give you more than enough ideas, but you can choose whatever project you want.

Keep in mind that you will need to describe all of the steps in the scientific process that are included in Our Discovery Database below, where you'll be reporting the results of your project. You will also be describing your selection process in the forum below.
