You will be using Google Earth to locate important places to the Dakota, choosing a photograph from Panoramio, and writing a description of what you see.  

Step 1: Download Google Earth at .  Log in to Google Earth using your gmail account assigned to you by your teacher. 

Step 2: Open Google Earth in Internet Explorer. 

Step 3: Visit one of the locations listed below by typing the name in the box next to "Fly to". (make sure you spell it correctly).

Here are the list of places:

  • Mendota, MN (The Confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers)
  • The Minnesota River Valley
  • Minnehaha Falls, MN
  • Cold Water Springs, MN
  • Pipestone, MN
  • Spirit Lake (Prior Lake), MN

Step 4: Click on comment it.

Step 5: Sign into Panoramio. 

Step 6: Type your description in the comment box.  You have to type the wavy words in the box below them and then click on "send your comment". 

Step 7: Copy the URL from the box at the top and send it to me in Edmodo.  I will check out your comments on the Panoramio/Google website.

Bear Butte looks like a bear lying on its side.  There are places trees are growing that make it look like the bear is shedding its fur.  It is dark brown in color that adds to the bear-like look of the mountain.
