Periodic Table Arrangement

In this lab activity, you will need to print out the . Once you have done this you will need to use the properties printed on the cards to try to arrange them to form as many patterns in the properties as possible.

Once you have completed your arrangement, you need to submit a document with all of the following:
  • A picture of your organized cards (may be submitted as a separate file or sent from your phone to your instructor's email)
  • A matrix of the atomic masses in the order you put them. Example:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8 9 10
11 12 13 14 15...
  • A description of how you arranged the cards.
  • A description of at least two trends or patterns you noticed once the cards were arranged.
This is a difficult activity. Feel free to email your instructor for hints as to how to arrange the cards. A good starting point is to put them in order by atomic mass to make one long row, then look for good breaks in other properties to start new rows. Remember, just like Mendeleev, you may have to put a few out of order to make other patterns work.
